Wordless Wednesday: In My Garden

  1. My favorite flower is the Iris! This one is beautiful. Oh, they smell so wonderful. The peonies here in Colorado are only half way up so far. Really late in this altitude. Your garden is just lovely, Greta! Thank you for posting this. I can smell the fragrance!

  3. Beautiful flowers. Iris was my stepmother Mildred's favorite and also my Aunt Irene's. They both had lovely ones in their gardens. Thanks for sharing yours.

  4. I love peonies!! I have one that I got from my Mom. She still has several they were her Mother's and made several moves over the years.
My Mom remembers her mother having them when she was growing up. My Mom is almost 85 so these peonies have been around awhile!
When I was a kid my grandmother always wanted to take some to her mother's grave.

  5. Oh, I'm so glad you all enjoyed the picture! I could talk flowers all night long. And irises and peonies are some of my favorites (along with columbines and sweet peas). I knew I had to take some pictures before the usual happens - a combination of pounding rain followed by an early searing heat often cuts our iris season short.

  6. Just look at those Iris. I had some beautiful ones and a summer or two ago, transplanted them to what I thought was a better spot. They have never bloomed! I think you and I are kindred spirits in the garden.

  7. Thank you, Linda. I will also go to great trouble for my irises - every few years I do one of the most disgusting chores in gardening there is, scraping iris borers out of the iris roots. I love flowers, but there aren't too many I would do that for.

  8. Probably not many people out there who actually used irises (and poppies) in their wedding . . . but I did! Luv the irises!
