No, this was an Ancestry tree and there was no indication of where the information came from. On my Ancestry trees I enter place names using my own system (unabbreviated word "County" added, do not include "United States" in location, etc.) so that I know when people have copied simply by clicking on my entries, and I have found several groups of people copied this way from my trees (no big deal to me, just curiosity). On the other hand, some people are more meticulous about showing where their information comes from. One person included in her notes an entire discussion thread from a RootsWeb discussion board in which I had provided information on a heretofore unknown husband of one her ancestors.Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324800784948486726.post-31850785416985259082012-01-21T07:50:33.699-08:002012-01-21T07:50:33.699-08:00There was definitely a lot of cringing going on he...There was definitely a lot of cringing going on here....Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324800784948486726.post-31190672077317212332012-01-21T07:49:24.388-08:002012-01-21T07:49:24.388-08:00Cheri - Thank you for your sympathy, and your proc...Cheri - Thank you for your sympathy, and your procedure is a good one to use to keep such mistakes from occurring.Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324800784948486726.post-8882898315447526692012-01-21T07:45:24.868-08:002012-01-21T07:45:24.868-08:00Thanks, Marian - I'm kind of resigned to what ...Thanks, Marian - I'm kind of resigned to what happened, but I think I'll be more cautious about adding "This is PURE SPECULATION" to posts like this.Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324800784948486726.post-52398746376933246542012-01-21T07:44:32.464-08:002012-01-21T07:44:32.464-08:00Good perspective!Good perspective!Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324800784948486726.post-20370393313304151142012-01-21T07:44:10.549-08:002012-01-21T07:44:10.549-08:00Jennifer - I like your suggestion and will try to ...Jennifer - I like your suggestion and will try to do that for all of my "series" posts in the future. I think genealogy is a work in progress, and we can't be worried about the people who want to truncate the experience and go straight for the jugular of absolutes.

One thing you probably could do when you do an extended series is make sure that each part in the series links to both the next and previous installment, so that you make it ULTRA easy for readers to navigate the whole series (and realize that it is a series in the first place--you'd be surprised at the number of people who don't read post titles).

Other than that, I don't know what you can do.
