Greta, what kind of vine is in the 2nd photo, the one with the red flowers and unusual leaves? It's quite beautiful. What growing conditions does it require?
Nancy - That's a cardinal flower. We bought it for $3 and stuck it in the ground, and it just took off. It has flowered less since the hot weather hit, but the leaves and vines still look pretty. Kerry - You are too kind. We live in a swamp here in Northern Virginia, and some stuff grows like crazy, but other stuff struggles. Linda - Yeah, those day lilies are kind of my babies. I think I need to replace some of my wild ones with cultivated ones that won't try to take over the rest of the flowerbed. Lori - Glad you enjoy them - I'm trying to spend more time getting my yard in shape (lots of weeds).
Wow, you are a fantastic gardener!
ReplyDeleteDo I love to see flower blogs---YES I DO!!! I think we have the same day lilies.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Greta! You obviously have a green thumb. (or maybe two!)

ReplyDeleteYou are not behind now! Flowers are in season with mine here in MA. They look lovely. I think we gardeners are all complaining about the weeds!
